Mobile Notary Service for MDC Los Angeles

NRH Mobile Notary Public provides mobile notary services for eligible notarizations involving incarcerated individuals at Metropolitan Detention Center Los Angeles (MDC Los Angeles), subject to Federal Bureau of Prisons facility procedures and authorization.

MDC Los Angeles is a federal Bureau of Prisons facility, not a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department jail.

Federal Facility Procedures

Notarial visits at a federal detention facility can involve procedures different from those used at Los Angeles County jails. For that reason, I review each MDC request individually before scheduling travel.

Information Needed

• Incarcerated person’s complete legal name
• Federal Register Number, when available
• Date of birth
• Confirmation that the individual is currently housed at MDC Los Angeles
• Requesting party’s contact information
• Attorney information when applicable
• Copy or description of the document requiring notarization

Document Preparation

Documents should be prepared before the visit. If an attorney or law office is requesting the notarization, providing the completed document and relevant instructions in advance helps me determine the practical requirements of the notarial assignment.

I cannot provide legal advice or determine how a federal legal document should be completed.

Identification and California Notary Law

Although the signer is located in a federal institution, I remain a commissioned California Notary Public. Any notarization I perform must satisfy applicable California notarial requirements.

Facility Authorization and Security

The Federal Bureau of Prisons and MDC Los Angeles control access to the institution. NRH Mobile Notary Public cannot guarantee admission, signer availability or completion of an appointment when facility operations, security conditions or institutional decisions prevent access.
